As ride-booking services like Uber and Lyft took over airport transportation in recent years, older shuttle van services like SuperShuttle began to disappear. Neither development was generally helpful to people who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices.

Now SuperShuttle has been revived as SuperShuttle Express, and a US District Court judge has said it must ensure customers who require a wheelchair-accessible vehicle have access to its services with the same convenience and at the same cost as customers who do not require a WAV.
